FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
What is mineral foam insulation in general?
MIRALIS MINERAL FOAM INSULATION is a mineral construction material used for insulating buildings. It is produced from water, air and mineral raw materials. Thanks to its mineral components, it is non-flammable, dimensionally stable and has excellent insulating properties.
What is so special about Miralis mineral foam insulation?
Special features of Miralis mineral foam insulation:
- non-flammable DIN EN 13501-1: A1 (2)
- excellent insulating properties DIN 4108-4: [λ 0.035 – 0.039 W/mK] (1)
- a low CO2 equivalent (ISO 14067:2018: [57kg CO2/m3] (3)
- fully recyclable (technological assessment (4))
- Very easy to fill, in a wide variety of shapes and heights (easy insertion)
- Breathable (permeable) (5)
- Little/no waste during installation
- Small storage area: 15m3 finished insulating foam requires 1m3 (1t) of storage space (raw material)
- Fast installation: approx. 7m3 per hour
- Fast further processing times: reinforcement can be inserted after 45 minutes (concrete sandwich panels)
- Noise-reducing
- Simple and efficient integration into existing industrial production processes
Where can Miralis mineral foam insulation be used?
Miralis mineral foam insulation is mainly used for application in concrete sandwich & cavity walls, but also in bricks & lightweight concrete blocks.
How is Miralis mineral foam insulation GMS65 produced?
GMS65 is produced in a production unit developed and patented by Miralis. The raw material is mixed with water and additives to produce mineral foam. The finished mineral foam is then inserted into the wall system.
How is Miralis mineral foam recycled?
In the recycling process, the mineral foam can be crushed together with the entire wall system and separated by screening fractions. Depending on the grain size, the fine fraction can then be returned to the concrete and cement industry.
What is the compressive strength of GMS65?
The compressive strength of GMS65 is 65 kPa.
How big is the Miralis mineral foam production unit?
Dimensions in operation (retracted):
- Length: 5.500 mm
- Width: 2.350 mm
- Height: 3.930 mm
Abmessungen im Betrieb ausgefahren:
- Länge: 5.500 mm
- Breite: 2.100 mm
- Höhe: 2.550 mm
What energy and water supply does the Miralis mineral foam production unit require?
- Benötigter Stromanschluss: 1x CEE 32A / 50Hz
- Benötigter Wasseranschluss: Haushaltsleitung 3/4 Zoll, mind. 10l/Min. Wasserdurchfluss
How long does the raw material last?
The minimum shelf life of the raw material is indicated on each big bag. In principle, the raw material can be stored for several months.
Can I also process my own or other material in the unit?
No! Only Miralis material and the Miralis unit may be used, as both components are matched to each other.
How should the raw material be stored?
The raw material must be stored in a dry and frost-proof storage area.
How often should material/production testing be carried out?
Test intervals must be carried out according to approval.
Does the mineral foam insulation swell?
No! Miralis mineral foam insulation is produced without propellants. It does not swell and is therefore process-safe.
How much mineral foam insulation can be produced per hour?
With the Miralis mineral foam production unit, around 7m3 of mineral foam can be inserted per hour. 1t (approx. 1m3) of raw material produces around 15m3 of finished mineral foam.
What happens if the mineral foam insulation gets wet?
The mineral foam releases the absorbed moisture again.
Can Miralis mineral foam insulation go mouldy?
No! The mineral composition of the foam prevents any kind of mould.
